Signs

And so... I blog.

It is just past midnight on a late Tuesday night- or early Wednesday morning- here in South Florida. The world is sleeping. The frogs are croaking their magical song as they chime insync with one another. I can hear my loved ones slumbering and dreaming. And I? I write. It's what I do. Yes- I sleep- but I find that when the world is most settled, so am I.

Life has a funny way of speaking to us. We receive signs when we least expect them. Many of us think or assume that we will "hear" signs. We think we will "see" signs. But do we ever think we will "feel" signs? I feel them all day long. Life speaks to me. Constantly. I receive messages and signs while I am working one on one with my clients, when I am cleaning the house, when I am teaching my daughter lessons or when we are sharing stories from the day's events. I also receive them when I am driving, when I am showering, when I am meditating, when my partner and I are being silly, when I am cooking, writing, singing, painting, watching TV and when the world is sleeping, like now.

But what are these signs? And what are they saying? Most of the time they are a feeling. It is a feeling of just "knowing" that I am supported and ok. It's also a feeling that something much larger than I is taking place and I am a part of this "something" much larger. At all times it is a feeling of Grace. When events, situations or moments take place, they pull at my heart. They are constant reminders that I am living and this means I am ALIVE. It is an awareness. Sometimes if I am completely closed off or "blind" to these signs, they will validate their pressence by using a song, television show or billboard to get my attention. I literally have seen road signs with messages that grabbed my attention. For example, once I was driving and texting (HUGE NO NO) and I looked up and slammed on my breaks as the car in front of me did the same. As I came to a halt, I noticed a billboard to my right that read, "Texting and Driving Kills." Hello, April! Wake up! How timely. How coincidental. How perfect- a sign.

We chose to pay attention to signs, or not. There are moments that simply catch my attention because they are so beautiful. Moments when the sun is setting or when my little one says, "Mommy, I love you," or when someone thanks me for doing the work I do. All of it reminds me that I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

Signs also teach me to appreciate. Because of them, I am open to all possibilities that are available at all moments that teach us to love, learn and grow. Signs also rev up my creative juices and inspire me to inspire you. They encourage me to remember that I truly am not alone. There is a world so vast that exists around and within us, connecting us all. So how does this world communicate with us to get our attention? They use signs.

Be aware of the signs around you. Are they audible? Are they seen? Are they felt? Write them down. Create a 'Sign Journal.' Everytime something catches your attention and makes you think, write it down. With each moment, you are growing. With each sign, you are recognizing this growth. It still amazes me how "coincidences" are always signs. Nothing is ever a coincidence. In fact, sometimes signs flow so easily and constantly toward us that we doubt them. We think that receiving signs should be harder. Or, that there will be a sort of "miracle" that takes place. Every [coincidental] sign is the miracle.

Be open to all ways in which they communicate with you. And who are they? They are your Guides, Angels, God, Higher Power, Universe, Ascended Master- all of them are One. All of them are Love. Be open to them. Be open to love.

And when the world goes to sleep and you are awake listening, know that God is listening to you. Within you exists the birthplace of Grace. Within you, there are always signs~ Simply pay attention.
